Engineered Hardwood Over Concrete Slab

Engineered hardwood glued down over a concrete slab is the right build for most Florida homes — and it’s our specialty.

Almost every home in the Lakewood Ranch, Sarasota, and Bradenton area sits on a concrete slab. Solid ¾" hardwood does not belong glued directly to a slab in this climate — it has no room to move and will cup or gap as humidity swings. Engineered hardwood, with its dimensionally stable plywood or HDF core, is built for exactly this.

We test the slab for moisture (ASTM F2170 in-situ RH), flatten it with self-leveler where needed, apply a moisture-control adhesive or membrane sized to the reading, and full-spread glue the flooring for a quiet, solid feel underfoot with no hollow spots.

Done properly, an engineered floor over slab looks identical to solid hardwood and outlasts it in a Florida home.
